A machete-wielding shopper was shot to death after attacking police at a Walmart store in Clarksville, Indiana.

Walmart employees saw the man walking through the corridors and bleeding from the neck, so they called the police, according to station WLKY.

He charged the officers with the sword before being shot dead.

No officers were injured when the police officers opened fire.

Police have not released any details about the man, who was waving the machete.

Police were already at the supermarket as they had responded to a separate incident in the parking lot.

Meanwhile, police officers swarmed a Walmart store in Bakersfield, California while responding to a shooting Monday.

Initial reports indicated that a gunman caused the evacuation of the store near Oildale.

“There has been a shooting at a Walmart down the street and it has been evacuated,” one person said on Twitter.

“Employees gathered across the street. I hope everyone is okay!”

The Kern County Sheriff confirmed the incident was a shooting.

Sheriff’s deputies later revealed that no one was injured.

A suspect was arrested, local media reported.

Police added that a firearm was found at the scene.

Five people, including a 72-year-old shopper, were injured in a shooting at a Walmart store in Mount Vernon, Washington, in July.

The other four victims included a 24-year-old staff member and three 19-year-olds.

Customer Kristie Johnson was inside the store with her 3-year-old and 14-year-old daughters at the time of the shooting.

She said an announcement was played over the overhead speaker urging customers and employees to “exit the store immediately.”

Johnson added: ‘these were shots, hide.’
