We don’t yet know the official price of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070, but the GPU maker has reportedly cut the rug out from under its AIB partners with a last-minute change. After that, companies like Asus, MSI, and many others will likely make efforts to adjust their release plans.
Last week we learned that the RTX 4070 could cost the same as the RTX 3070 Ti, which could make it the best graphics card for those looking to save money on the latest GeForce series. However, it seems that this news surprised us and Nvidia’s board partners.
According to sources close to YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead, “Nvidia’s AIB partners were notified on Monday morning (April 3) that the price (for the RTX 4070) would not be $750, it would actually be $600. ” This is despite plans that had been in the works “for months” by these companies to sell most of their seed stock for around $700.
If that $600 price tag is true, it will create a huge gap between the upcoming GeForce GPU and its larger, more expensive sibling, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. However, it remains to be seen what difference in performance there is between the two cards.
Hopefully this will prompt AMD to lower the price of the Radeon RX 7800 XT when it finally appears, probably later this year. That said, cutting the cost of the 7900 XT wouldn’t hurt either.
