Hawaii is now also in Minecraft

The Minecraft community is known to recreate famous buildings or otherwise create impressive works. One player has now completed a very special work: he rebuilt the Hawaiian Islands.

The creator Frang Cesco shows you what it looks like in this video:

This is behind the virtual Hawaii

The extent of the world: Overall, the card in the game has a size of 16,663 x 10,567 blocks. He didn’t recreate them all by hand, but instead converted official data from NASA or the government into the game. A very complex undertaking, which, according to Cesco, took a full three weeks.

The scale: He created the island on a scale of 1:45. That means that every single block is equal to 45 meters in the real world. For the vertical, however, he changed the scale and relies on a scale of 1:22.

A virtual journey

You can download the map and explore it yourself in the Java version of Minecraft. The creator published the download link and password for the archive directly in the description of his YouTube video.

However, the card is only compatible with the Minecraft Version 1.12.2 or earlier releases. If you run your own server, you can also upload it to it and, provided you have the necessary knowledge, convert it with Dynmap for more recent versions.

More areas to explore

There are similar projects from other players. A whole team has been working on a faithful replica of the entire world of Middle-earth from The Lord of the Rings for over 10 years. They presented it with a virtual tour in 2021.

But there are also other replicas of the real world. The player with the nickname lentebriesje already implemented the entire earth on a scale of 1: 1500 in 2013.
