The Sun Squad Collection event in Apex Legends has added a new game mode, Heat Wave, where players must dodge heat waves that occur every two minutes. However, there is an item that allows players to walk around during a heatwave without fear of being killed by the sun. This guide explains how to get sunglasses in Apex Legends so you can make the sun your ally.

Where to find sunglasses in Apex Legends

Sunglasses only appear in Apex Legends care packages during the Sun Squad Collection event. These usually spawn at the start of every Heatwave match, so look for them before other players have a chance to pick them up. We discovered that there were three pairs of sunglasses in each medkit plus an awesome weapon.

When you arrive at the Care Package, you will find the sunglasses on one side. They replace your helmet armor, but they’re worth swapping out. Be sure to pick them up before a heatwave begins so you can appreciate the difference in damage dealt.

What are sunglasses for?

When wearing sunglasses in Apex Legends during a Heatwave match, you will take significantly less damage from heatwaves than without the sunglasses. By wearing sunglasses, you can run outside through a whole heat wave and not die. Without them, however, you’ll take enough damage to be knocked down in the middle of a heat wave, leaving you to die soon after unless a teammate drops a heat shield.

We found it best to take sunglasses at the start of the game. Head straight for the nearest Care Package as soon as it drops, even if it’s outside the next circle. The faster you get the sunglasses, the easier the rest of the match will be. Without the sunglasses, you’ll be forced into situations where other players can kill you regularly in melee throughout the game. With them, you can stay away from players and have a much better chance of earn. This is important because you’ll want to finish in the top four or five teams as often as possible to complete the tougher challenges in the Sun Squad Collection event.
