After announcing the arrival of a custom match search engine in the Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries has announced its intention to include in Halo 3 a new multiplayer map from Halo Online, a PC game.

Last week, 343 Industries teased “a new place and a new way to play” for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. If one could have imagined many things about this statement, it was actually an announcement concerning the arrival of a search engine of personalized games (Custom Game Browser) within the compilation.

However, if this announcement concerned “a new way of playing” the Master Chief Collection, it remained however to explain what implied by 343 Industries by “a new place” and it is now done.

Indeed, in a post published last Thursday 11 February, 343 Industries announces a new map from Halo Online will be added to Halo 3 within Halo: The Master Chief Collection. As a reminder, Halo Online was an online PC game available only in Russia in 2015 through closed beta. The game was developed by Saber Interactive from a modified version of the Halo 3 engine but is now offline and has never been released worldwide.

Additionally, the post comes with the screenshot that you can see above suggesting that this is the map that will be added to the game soon. However, this image does not correspond to any of the maps in Halo Online, both those present in the game and those that were going to be added, according to our colleagues from Kotaku.

On the other hand, in the URL of the image, we find the word “Waterfall” which is the name of a canceled card from Halo Online which showed a frozen environment through concept art.

It now remains to wait for an official confirmation from 343 Industries to know if it is indeed this card, or another. In any case, it seems that players in the Master Chief Collection beta test program will be able to try out this new map starting February 18.
