According to persistent rumors it seems that Activision and Infinity Ward may have big plans for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with the addition of substantial content in 2023.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could receive a Campaign DLC next year according to some rumors. The rumors have become insistent with the confirmation that Infinity and Activision will extend the life cycle of Modern Warfare 2 more than what they did with the previous COD.

Indeed, remember, that according to several communications, including official ones from Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should break away from the classic modus operandi of the series, being destined to remain for two years, always flanked by Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, the free-to-play game of the series and any other projects. In this sense, although the rumors are unprecedented, they would still be credible.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should have a support of at least two years and in this sense it is plausible to speculate on a possible DLC, such as additional maps for multiplayer

Specifically, one of the most recent rumors comes from journalist Jason Schreier and would suggest that a premium DLC could be implemented in Modern Warfare 2 in 2023. Other rumors would confirm the DLC and in some cases there is talk of a real expansion pack to the game.

Activision’s decision to postpone the follow-up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, from 2023 to 2024, has opened up other possible scenarios. According to the user TheGhostOfHope that in the same DLC would be included, in addition to a new campaign, also some new maps for multiplayer players.

Obviously we are in the realm of speculation, in fact there is nothing official to guarantee us such massive post launch support from Infinity Ward. So we just have to wait for any press releases and in this sense we will not fail to keep you updated.

As publication approaches, Activision recently posted a Modern Warfare 2 launch trailer which shows the players some characters present in the game and pieces of narrative. From the moment we find ourselves dealing with a new version of Modern Warfare, and therefore not a new type of narration, there will also be space to carry on the story in a new DLC.
