Atlus explains why it decided to use the original DS games for Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection brings back the first three games in the DS series. In an interview with IGNAtlus explained why it decided to remaster these titles specifically.
Atlus could technically have considered offering the Untold games. These were remakes of the first two entries released on 3DS.
The good news is that what we get in Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection are not just ports. According to Atlus, “we’ve updated many systems to be more in line with newer versions of the series, such as the Etrian Odyssey Nexus.”
Atlus’ full words:
“For EO’s first foray into modern platforms, we wanted to start with the true beginning of the series. Fans have been asking for versions of these classic games, and we also wanted to be able to introduce the series to new players who may have never had a chance to play the originals before. We wanted to focus on the core EO gameplay provided by the three original games. But we also know that modern gamers have certain expectations when it comes to gameplay. gaming experience, which is why we’ve updated many systems to be more in line with the latest releases in the series, such as Etrian Odyssey Nexus. We believe modern gamers will find the experience very easy use. “
