The winners of the Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year categories at the 2023 BRIT Awards are now known.

The 2023 Producer of the Year award goes to David Guetta, while the winner for Songwriter of the Year goes to Kid Harpoon, co-writer and co-producer of Harry Styles’ third album, ‘Harry’s House “.

Guetta, who will perform on the show alongside Becky Hill and Ella Henderson, is also nominated for International Song of the Year for her track with Bebe Rexha “I’m Good.”

“I have always felt a strong connection to British music and culture. The UK music scene is full of world-class artists and producers, so such recognition means a lot to me. Thank you very much.”

The Songwriter of the Year award, meanwhile, was introduced in 2022 with Ed Sheeran as the first winner. Kid Harpoon has written for artists including Lizzo, Florence + The Machine, Miley Cyrus and Jessie Ware, and has been featured on all three Harry Styles studio albums.

Styles’ “As It Was”, co-written by Kid Harpoon, was the UK’s biggest-selling single of 2022 and recently won the Grammy for record of the year. “Harry’s House” also won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2023.

said Kid Harpoon: “To be recognized by the BRITs this year for songwriting, a beautiful and complex craft, is incredible. It’s a dream come true to create for a living, I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on Saturday.”

This year’s BRITs will take place on Saturday February 11 at The O2 in London, where Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles, Stormzy, Lizzo, Wet Leg, Sam Smith, Kim Petras and Cat Burns will perform.

Hosted by comedian Mo Gilligan for the second year running, the BRITs will be rerun on ITV 1 for the 30th time. Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp will once again host the red carpet.

This year’s edition of the BRIT Awards has come under criticism as the British Artist of the Year category is made up entirely of male nominees, with Central Cee, Fred again…, George Ezra, Stormzy and Harry Styles on the shortlist.

Sam Smith, who is non-binary and called for the introduction of gender-neutral categories in 2021, said it was “a pity” to see only male nominees, telling The Sunday Times: “Things are moving forward, but obviously we haven’t ‘ “I got to that point. Looking at this list (of top artists), there’s still a long way to go.”

The move comes after the 2022 awards abolished the UK women’s and men’s UK categories in favor of gender-neutral awards.

Artists like Mahalia have also criticized the lack of R&B representation in the Pop/R&B category.
