South Park once again poked fun at Kanye West, this time including the rapper’s recent anti-Semitism.
Kicking off its twenty-sixth season, the irreverent animated sitcom aired an episode titled Cupid Ye. In it, Cartman dresses in West’s signature outfit that he wore during the Alex Jones interview last year (as a result).
The show makes it even clearer that he’s mocking the rapper when Cartman admonishes Cupid Ye, who shows up to talk to him, “Since you changed your name and bothered Jesus, you’ve gone a little crazy, Cupid. Ye.” says the western cherub’s favorite cartoon, which is themed around Valentine’s Day.
The episode as a whole begins with Cartman and Stan battling jealousy over Kyle’s friendship with Tolkien. Stan sulks at his best friend’s apparent new best friend, but Cartman uses him as a vehicle to try to divide the African-American and Jewish students at South Park Elementary School.
Cartman is then used to make jokes about the West, as he begins by referring to the points of the Black Hebrew Israelites, whose views were embraced by the West. Although the dots don’t quite fit together, soon the whole school is repeating Cartman’s idea that “Kyle runs Hollywood”. A sentiment similar to several anti-Semitic comments West made in the past year.
The big joke comes when Cartman gives TV interviews wearing the exact same outfit West wears in Infowars. It was during this appearance that West made positive comments about Nazi leader Hitler. Cartman also talks to a “magical fairy”, the titular Cupid Ye, who is always “busy praising our savior’s name in the music studio”.
In addition to being on South Park’s radar, West has been making headlines in his long-awaited 2024 presidential run. The rapper’s presidential campaign has reportedly paid the former campaign manager more than $40,000. Milo Yiannopoulos.
West confirmed in November that Yiannopoulos was working on his presidential campaign, dubbed #YE2024. A few weeks later, however, Yiannopoulos retired from the campaign.
