A new shipment with doses of Sputnik V arrives in Argentina

A shipment with 500 thousand vaccines of the second component of Sputnik V arrived this Friday in Argentina which, in this way, already exceeded 81.6 million doses from different laboratories received since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The half million inoculants landed at the Ezeiza International Airport at 8:20 p.m., a few minutes earlier than scheduled, aboard the Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR1063, which had departed early that same day from Moscow, the capital of Russia.

The cargo was added to a significant flow of shipments from different suppliers that were received this week. Between Thursday and last Wednesday, 1,625,130 doses of Pfizer arrived in the country, while 960,400 AstraZeneca vaccines donated by Spain entered last Tuesday.

In this way, from the beginning of the Strategic Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 Argentina has already received 81,639,985 doses from different manufacturers.

Of that total, 14,683,210 corresponded to Sputnik V (10,125,655 of component 1, and 4,557,555 of component 2), and 4,759,625 to Sputnik V produced in Argentina by Laboratorio Richmond (1,179,625 for the first component, and 3,580,000 for the second).

To signature AstraZeneca corresponds to 24,265,400 doses (580,000 from Covishield; 1,944,000 received through the Covax mechanism, 18,989,000 from AstraZeneca and Oxford whose active ingredient was produced in Argentina; 2,202,800 donated by Spain, and 549,600 by Canada).

While, 30,000,000 correspond to the Sinopharm laboratory, 3,500,000 to Moderna donated by the United States, 600,000 to Cansino and 3,831,750 to Pfizer.

Recently, a preliminary analysis of a study – considered pioneering in the world – on vaccine combination made in various provinces of the country, yielded positive results in both the safety profile and the immunogenicity profile, that is, the ability to activate the immune system and induce an immune response.

According to this test, most of the heterologous schemes evaluated with the inoculants available in Argentina, have given an immune response equal to or greater than that achieved with conventional schemes.

According to Public Vaccination Monitor, until the early hours of this Saturday, 65,657,729 doses had been distributed throughout the territory, while the applications totaled 55,498,940, of which 31,030,223 correspond to people who started their scheme and 24,468,717, to citizens who they already completed it.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Friday that, in the last 24 hours, there were 27 deaths and 1,358 new coronavirus infections.

Thus, the country accumulates a total of 5,271,361 positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Meanwhile, deaths are 115,660. The average number of new daily cases continues to decline.

Of the numbers published over the last 15 days by the portfolio he leads Carla Vizzotti, several statistical readings emerge: in all of them there is a decrease in the weekly average.

One of them, the average number of new daily cases, fell 34% in the last two weeks. Regarding the average of new daily deaths in the weekly average, there is also a decrease: 46%.

On the other hand, the number of patients with coronavirus in Intensive Care Units, fell to 26% also with regard to a weekly average according to the official numbers published by the health portfolio in the last 15 days.
