Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has left the Milanese hospital where he was admitted since the beginning of April for a series of controls of the consequences of the coronavirus, local media report.
The 84-year-old magnate had to be hospitalized on April 7 at the San Raffaele in Milan (north) to undergo a series of tests for his heart disease but also for his respiratory problems, aggravated by COVID-19, according to collects the newspaper “Il Corriere della Sera”.
After 24 days in hospital, Berlusconi left the hospital yesterday and returned to his mansion in Arcore (north), where he will continue to be controlled, accompanied by his girlfriend, the deputy of Forza Italia, Marta Fascina, 31 years old.
The tycoon, with a pacemaker since 2006, has had health problems for a long time since he was already admitted for a few days in January in the Monaco hospital for heart problems.
The owner of Mediaset was also infected with coronavirus last September and was admitted with bilateral pneumonia at the San Raffaele, although he was discharged two days later.
His situation has made him delegate political issues to his right hand and vice president of the conservative Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, former president of the European Parliament.
But he has also interrupted the judicial processes that affect him due to his controversial years in the Government.
On the one hand, he has postponed the trial in Milan (north), known as “Ruby Ter”, which is trying to clarify whether Berlusconi bribed witnesses in other trials to lie about what happened at his parties with young women.
But he has also delayed the sentence of a branch of that process instructed in Siena (north), in which he is accused of buying the silence of the pianist of his mansion, Danilo Mariani.
