After various initiatives, some coming from the executive, the different parliamentary groups continue without reaching a consensus on the next elections.
In this way, people will be able to exercise their vote in a new schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The initiative was debated and finally approved – with 16 votes for and 7 against – last Friday, February 10.
The intention of the said working group, as well as that of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), is to reduce crowds at polling stations.

The group led by Fujimorista Hernando Guerra García also supported the proposal to amend Magna Carta Article 113 to include the concept of mental incapacity as grounds for impeachment of a head of state.
The head of the Commission considered that the said measure protects the right to vote of the greatest number of voters, the very one who has a constitutional character.
On the other hand, the approved proposal also provides that prisoners, who do not have a sentence, have access to vote in their respective prisons.

For this, the ONPE will install voting tables in 68 prisons in the country. With this, it is expected to collect the votes of at least 35,000 inmates who exhibit the characteristics described above.
The aforementioned initiatives, approved by the Constitution Commission, were raised by the Jury of the National Elections (ETC) at the request of the ONPE.
