The National Police have arrested a 44-year-old man for squatting the apartment of two elderly who had temporarily moved to another family home to pass Covid-19, as confirmed to Europa Press by a spokeswoman for the Madrid Police Headquarters.

The couple, of 83 and 84 years, had left their home, located on Calle Alfonso Martínez Conde 2, in the Madrid district of Carabanchel, to recover from the virus to the house of one of their children in Fuenlabrada.

Returning home last week, they found the recently changed lock, so they called 091. According to the newspaper The world, when the officers arrived, the lock trim came off the door because the glue was still very fresh.

The squatters had thrown the couple’s items in the trash

There was no one inside the home, but they found that all cabinets, drawers and furniture were original, though they were completely empty. All clothing, valuable appliances, and jewelry had been taken. In addition, in the dining room they found a false unsigned rental contract for the apartment in the name of Fernando R.C.

Then they found the clothes, paintings and other valuables of the apartment in the garbage cans of the portal, so they deduced that the squatters had just thrown them away and decided to wait for them to return. This happened minutes later.

Agents identified an individual whose name was the same as the one on the forged lease. The man, a Colombian national, was detained by a crime of burglary.

On the other hand, on Thursday, agents of the Tetuán District Unit of the Madrid Municipal Police detained two individuals who had entered the home of an elderly hospitalized woman there it the television and a camera had been stolen.
