On the night of Saturday to Sunday, a shooting took place in a bar in the town of Soweto, located near Johannesburg in South Africa. So far, this assault has killed 14 people, reports AFP. Several injuries are also to be deplored. The authorities were still on the spot in the morning this Sunday. That same evening, another shooting erupted in a bar in Pietermaritzburg, killing four people. Two separate investigations were opened.

Ten injured taken to hospital

South African police were alerted to the situation in Soweto around 12:30 a.m. The bar, where this tragedy took place, is located in the East Orlando district of Soweto, the largest township in Johannesburg, in the southwest of the city. Upon their arrival on the spot, the police deplored the death of twelve people, “bearing bullet wounds”, local police chief and commander of the Orlando police station, Nonhlanhla Kubheka, also told AFP. Eleven injured people were rushed to hospital, but two of them succumbed to their injuries shortly after being taken care of.

“They shot people who were having fun”

For the time being, no information has been communicated on the profile of the perpetrators of the shootings and no one has been arrested after the arrival of the police on the spot. Nonhlanhla Kubheka only told AFP that the attackers “came and shot people who were having fun”. An investigation has been opened.
