The National Guard (GN) reported that 15 pilgrims were injured, several of them seriously injured, after the collision of two trailers and a truck. These events were recorded on the afternoon of this Saturday, December 11, on the Mexico – Puebla highway at kilometer 75 in the area of ​​the Emperor’s bridge.

The accident occurred because of a speeding by the driver of one of the trailers.

The pilgrims would be originally from the community of Santa Ana Xalmimilulco, belonging to the Puebla municipality of Huejotzingo; Paramedics from the Advanced Medical Emergency Service (SUMA) arrived in the area of ​​the accident in three ambulances to attend to and transfer the injured to the Texmelucan hospital.

The Veracruz Civil Protection Secretariat (PC) reported that the incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. After the events, elements of the Ministry of Public Security, State PC, Red Cross, Amber Cross of Fortín de las Flores, Córdoba Firefighters, SIPREC, and private ambulances came to the scene.

Likewise, four people injured, which were transferred to the Córdoba Hospital to receive the corresponding medical attention.

Throughout Friday there have been a series of accidents experienced by pilgrims who intend to visit the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

According to the state government, the incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. in a workshop called “El Polvorín”, located in the Guadalupe street, Santa Cruz corner, in the El Mirador neighborhood.

Elements of the GN, the Edomex Police, as well as state Civil Protection and medical units went to the scene of the explosion to support the affected people. Upon arrival they found two calcined people that so far could not be identified, as well as 15 people with second and third degree burns.

The injured were transferred to the High Specialty Hospitals in Zumpango, the Vicente Villada General Hospital and three more to the DIF in Xahuento, where they receive specialized medical care.
