Contagions from the sixth wave of COVID continue to rise. Mexico registered 25,445 new cases and 106 more deaths from the disease, until December 19, according to data from the federal Ministry of Health.

According to the agency’s Weekly Technical Report, 7,190,702 total cases of coronavirus and 330,805 total deaths from the virus have been confirmed in the country.

The cases of COVID are present in the groups of 18 to 29 years, followed by the group of 30 to 39 years and 40 to 49 years.

Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tabasco, Puebla and Sonora are the entities that have accumulated the most infections since the pandemic began.

According to the Ministry of Health, the hospital occupancy of general beds for patients with COVID-19 remains at 4%, while in beds with ventilators at 2%.

He explained that during epidemiological week 50, which includes December 11 to 17, a daily average of 2,325 infections and two deaths from the virus were recorded.

Vaccination against COVID continues

The agency reported that vaccination against COVID continues for people left behind, girls and boys from 5 to 11 years old and booster doses.

He recalled that registration to receive the vaccine can be done through mivacuna.salud.gob.mx.

The secretariat asked to maintain the correct use of face masks, a healthy distance, frequent hand washing with soap and water, application of gel and ventilation of spaces.
