Mexico reported 712 new deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours to accumulate a total of 189,578 fatalities, the Ministry of Health reported this Friday.
In addition, 6,797 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus were reported for a total of 2,119,305 infections.
With these figures, Mexico It ranks thirteenth in the world in the number of infections and third with the most deaths from the pandemic, behind the United States and Brazil, according to the Johns Hopkins University of the United States.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Mexico 5.58 million patients have been studied, with 3,024,248 people with negative results, reported the Director General of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (Cenaprece), Ruy López Ridaura, at a press conference.
In addition, he said, there are 1,660,786 people who are considered recovered.
The official reported that the estimated number of cases is 2,314,287 when considering those who await the test result. Among them, there are 51,094 estimated active cases, that is, 2% of the total that have presented symptoms in the last two weeks.
He pointed out that there is currently an average occupation of 28% of general beds. Among the 32 states of the country, the City of Mexico with 52% general saturation, while the other 31 entities have less than 50% occupancy.
Regarding intensive therapy beds, with respirators, there is a national occupancy of 31%, with the City of Mexico with 58% saturation and the other 31 entities with less than 50% occupancy.
As for deaths, the Mexican capital, the focus of the pandemic, alone accumulates 19.1% of all deaths nationwide, that is, almost one in every five deaths.
VACCINATION PLAN
At the conference it was reported that so far 2,731,900 doses have been applied against covid-19, while 603,134 people of the health and educational personnel have received the two necessary doses of the vaccination scheme to achieve immunity.
In addition, 1,319,897 adults over 60 have received a first dose.
The country, with 126 million inhabitants, has committed 34.4 million doses of the American Pfizer, 79.4 of the British AstraZeneca, 35 of the Chinese CanSino, 24 of the Russian Sputnik V, 10 of the Chinese Sinovac and 51 , 4 from the Covax platform of the World Health Organization (WHO).
