Father Francisco Javier Bautista was sentenced in Mexico to 27 years and six months in jail for the murder of the 29-year-old seminarian Leonardo Avendaño, reported Josué Vicente Avendaño, the victim’s brother.

The death of the seminarian

The body of Leonardo Avendaño was found inside his vehicle in a place of the mayor’s office Tlalpan, on June 12, 2019.

Previously, “El Universal” reported that the review of at least 10 surveillance cameras of the C5, as well as of individuals in the vicinity of Iztapalapa and Tlalpan, allowed the then Attorney General’s Office to establish that Leonardo Avendaño He spent the last hours of his life with his alleged assailant.

With that information, authorities put together the chronology and route of the homicide. They indicated that at 10:56 p.m. on June 11, 2019, Leonardo’s vehicle headed to the priest’s home, in Bonfil and M. Dávila. At 11:03 pm, the victim contacted a friend to inform him that he had arrived at the home of the alleged perpetrator.

Later, from 11:04 p.m. to 3:16 a.m., Avendaño’s vehicle remained in Bonfil and M. Dávila, at 3:27 a.m. Leonardo’s car circulated on the Pichardo Ajusco road and at 03:30 a.m. the C5 cameras identified a second vehicle that was heading to the place where the car and the body of the young man were found.

At 03:48, Leonardo’s vehicle was captured in the area of ​​the Héroes de 1910 neighborhood, Tlalpan mayor’s office; at 03:49 hours the arrival of the second vehicle was recorded at the site where Avendaño Chávez was and at 04:01 the second vehicle withdrew.
