Barcelona (Barcelona), 24 Feb. Police believe the death of a young girl of Argentine origin last Tuesday in the Spanish town of Sallent (northeast) is a suicide, which could be due to multifactorial causes, including gender identity issues and bullying.

The youngest, aged 12, jumped from the balcony of her house with her twin sister, who survived, although she is still in serious condition.

As sources close to the investigation told EFE, the security forces sent the first report on the case to the court on Friday, in which they stress that all the clues point to a suicide, but they do not detail still not the exact causes. .

In fact, according to the sources, the researchers are working with the hypothesis that there could be a host of circumstances that led the sisters to this extreme situation, among which that they suffered bullying or problems related to the gender identity of the deceased, that she had asked those around her to call him “Iván”.

Indeed, the Observatory against homophobia of the Spanish region of Catalonia described the death of this minor as “social murder”.

As part of their investigation, the police collected statements from relatives of the twins, their entourage, their friends and officials of the institute where they studied to try to clarify what happened.

The agents are also investigating, among other aspects, whether the minors, of Argentine origin and who have been living with their parents in Sallent (province of Barcelona) for about two years, had integration problems.

According to the sources, everything indicates that it was the sister who called himself “Iván” who took the initiative to end her life by jumping from the balcony of a third floor, while her twin, who remains at the ‘hospital, jumped as an example of solidarity.

The Catalan educational authorities consider that all the hypotheses on the event remain open; Although the school where the sisters were studying did not detect any specific bullying issues, it had provided psychological support and counseling to the students since the course began. ECE
