New features and a smoother look are coming to Google Workspace, with a special focus on Google Docs.

Some of the changes to Docs include the ability to compose calendar invites from a document, making it easier to collaborate on an event. An updated variables tool will also allow users to identify certain values in a document, such as a customer name or contact number, and then update those values throughout the document whenever it is modified.

You and other document editors will soon also be able to use emojis to vote between certain options in a Google document. While these aren’t the flashiest changes, they’ll give you a lot more options in Google Docs.

The Google Workspace suite is getting similar changes, which appear to be taken from the design overhaul received by Gmail, with these new changes rolling out in the coming weeks.
