E.T. has been one of the most famous characters in pop culture and science fiction since the release of the hit film in 1982.

The original animatronic doll from Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi classic “E.T. the Alien” went up for auction over the weekend for $2.6 million, organizers of the sale said.

The flagship lot of this two-day auction, run by Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), was presented along with 1,300 other movie props, from Robert De Niro’s boxing gloves in “Bull savage”, to the hammer of “Thor”.

Almost everything about the brown doll is posable: his beady eyes, his long neck and, of course, his glowing finger that glows in the movie before saying his cult phrase “E.T. calls home.”

A model of the alien was also auctioned for $125,000, while one of the bikes used in the final scene sold for $115,000.

Other emblematic objects of the seventh art were offered and reached high bids, such as the stick with which Charlton Heston parted the Red Sea in two in “The Ten Commandments”‘ ($448,000) and Harry Potter’s Nimbus 2000 broom ($128,000). .
