The Mossos d’Esquadra came this Friday afternoon to number 39 Calle Amigó before the alert for a kidnapping with two hostages. The kidnapping ended at 8:15 p.m., after the kidnappers released the people held against their will, for whom they demanded a ransom of 370,000 euros. The Mossos stormed the apartment at this time and took control of it with no injuries. All three hijackers have been arrested.
The kidnapping is linked to a settling of accounts for economic reasons by Chinese mafias based in the city, we learned the vanguard from police sources.
According to the same sources, at 5.45 p.m. the police received a notification from the 112 emergency team of a possible kidnapping in a house in Sant Gervasi-Galvany. The inmates, a man and a woman with Asian features. Around eight o’clock in the evening and after an “unsuccessful” negotiation with the kidnappers – without revealing more details – the agents entered the apartment and proceeded to arrest the kidnappers, also with Asian features.
Mossos d’Esquadra manager Pere Ferrer explained in statements to the media that “tools and weapons” were found after searching the apartment. In addition, he added that he was investigating “the existence of a family link with the kidnappers”.
Members of the long-armed Brimo, the kidnapping unit and the Special Intervention Group (GEI) went to the scene and the operation was led on the spot by the chief commissioner of the Mossos, Eduard Sallent . Deputy Mayor Albert Batlle also visited the scene of the abduction. The Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) of the Catalan police has opened an investigation to clarify the motivations for the kidnapping.
The police operation disturbed the tranquility of the neighborhood and many residents were surprised by the presence of the officers. The only recurring complaint about Sant Gervasi-Galvany is the noise from some bars.
