A woman bought a $20 million lottery scratch-off prize, which is the largest lottery jackpot in California history

A lucky woman from San Jose, California, became the second lottery player this year to win the $20 million top prize on a Scratchers Set For Life Millionaire Edition Scratch-Off ticket, the California Lottery announced.

Mary Orozco was visiting the Hawaiian Islands when she discovered that she had the largest winning ticket in the history of the California Lottery.

“Usually I play the $5 games, but I decided I was just going to splurge and go for the big one. I checked it on my phone, using the lottery app, to make sure she was a winner,” the lucky woman said, according to NBC Bay Area.

Orozco purchased the jackpot ticket at Ron’s Liquors, whose owners will receive a $100,000 bonus just for selling the ticket.

Orozco said that she had previously won $1,000 on a Scratchers ticket that she also bought at Ron’s.

Orozco chose to take the money in one lump sum payment of $11.6 million (before taxes) instead of $800,000 a year for 25 years.

Just last month, another player from California was the first to claim the record $20 million jackpot in the Scratchers Set For Life Millionaire Edition game.
