Twitter has started a test on Android and iOS clients to display the image posted on the timeline as it is.

When you post an image on Twitter, you’ll usually see the image cropped at 16: 9 on the timeline. This will not be trimmed in the test subject’s TL and will be displayed in its original size.

There have been some issues with this trimming in the past. In Japan, when RT an image was used, it was decided that cropping would be a copyright infringement.

In addition, although this trimming itself is automatically performed by AI, it was pointed out that it is trimming with a composition that gives priority to white people.

I’m not sure at this point if this feature is to address these issues, but given that it took a tap to see a full-size image, it’s a hassle and many people see photos and illustrations. It seems that it will be a change that will increase the exposure for creators who want to have it.

Also, in the Android and iOS version apps, an image upload function with 4K image quality has also been added. If this is available, the item “Upload images in high quality” has been added to “Settings & Privacy> Teta Usage Settings”.

You can select whether to upload when using mobile data communication or when connecting to Wi-Fi.

In addition, these changes are treated as a test version. It’s not clear when it will be officially released, and it’s important to keep in mind that not all tests will be officially released as before.
