Social networks seek to inform people when their publications are no longer displayed in the feed of others

The CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, stated in his official account of the social network that his work team is currently developing an improvement in the application’s software so that users are notified in the event that their account is affected by the application of a shadowban against him.

This situation implies that without prior notice, the social network system (Twitter in this case, although it could be any other) stops showing the content that is produced, be it photos, videos or text publications to other users within the platform. In other words, the accounts to which the publications made are exposed are reduced to a minimum.

According to Musk, this update in the Twitter system would not only act as a notification that an account has been affected by this, but would also give resources to users so that they can understand the reason or, if necessary, appeal to the decision of the social network.

Instagram will also give notice to users with shawdowban

In the same way, Instagram will also begin the implementation of a similar system in which users are allowed to know the status of their account and if it has been affected by the shadowban application, although the social network developed by Meta names this feature as “recommendations”.

According to the statement made on the application’s official blog, this function will be specifically aimed at people who manage professional accounts so that they can understand more about the status of the content that is published on their profiles. “We expanded Account Status so users understand when their content is eligible to be recommended to non-followers and what they can do about it.”

Unlike the Twitter initiative, which is still under development, the Instagram function is already active and you can see some of the recommendations that the social network gives in order to prevent the content that is produced from being classified as “not recommended”. ”.

Instagram makes three details in this regard that must be taken into account by users. First of all, it is mentioned that people can check if their content is recommended in sections like Explore, Reels and Feed Recommendations. It is also stated that if an account’s posts are not recommended, it is possible that some of the details in the profile go against the recommendation guide.

In other cases, it is likely that some type of publication on the profile has been removed for violating the community rules, something that would also imply being affected by this function.

Finally, the possibility was enabled for users to make an official claim to Instagram for having limited the recommendations of the publications and request that this decision be revoked.

“It is important to us that creators can know if something they have published or that they have on their profile may be affecting their reach to non-followers,” the official publication of the social network indicates. “That’s why we’re presenting the ability to disagree with our decision (…) so we can continue to improve our detection technology.”

In order to access the review of the account status by entering the account page, then the Options menu and pressing Settings. Once inside, you should look for the Account section and finally the Account Status option. A few seconds later, Instagram will display a message stating “You have not posted anything that affects the status of your account” if none of the conditions of use of the social network have been affected.
