Samsung unveils its Eco Remote remote control, rechargeable in solar and via radio frequencies

If our wireless electronic devices are omnipresent in our lives today, it is still very far from being the panacea when it comes to their use for a very simple reason: their autonomy. The batteries are often too small not to have to go through the recharge box every day or a little more, which, on a daily basis, can be very frustrating.

All over the world, researchers are working on new technologies. A very interesting axis, that of wireless charging. Samsung is obviously present in this field and today unveils a remote control.

Samsung unveils its Eco Remote

Samsung has just unveiled a new version of its remote control with solar charging which had been made official at CES 2021. In addition to the use of natural light to recharge the battery of the device, the South Korean giant explains that its very latest Eco Remote can convert the radio signals of our routers into energy to always stay at the maximum of its battery.

Rechargeable in solar and via radio frequencies

Using the radio waves from our routers to recharge a battery is a very interesting idea, especially since this energy is, otherwise, totally wasted. Several companies have already attempted such harvesting of radio frequencies (RF) to charge devices in recent years, but this approach seems, for now at least, better suited to devices requiring very little power, such as the remote control. of a television.

There is a solar panel on the back of the back, one side which also has dedicated buttons for streaming apps like Netflix, Disney + and Prime Video. The remote control is also made with recycled materials, which remains in perfect harmony with the sustainability and environmental protection efforts undertaken by Samsung in recent years.

And if the Samsung Solar Cell Remote Control was only available in black, in 2022 there will be a white version to perfectly complement Samsung TVs.
