A real commercial success, the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset made a strong contribution to Facebook’s good financial results in the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2020.

We know it, The Oculus Quest 2 is selling like hot cakes, and in particular broke the monthly active player record held by the first version of the headset just seven weeks after it was put on the market. In a recent press release, Facebook, the parent company of Oculus, even called its helmet a model “The fastest growing”. A success explained by the technical qualities of the device, by its lower selling price than that of its predecessor, and by a catalog of games that allows many categories of players to navigate. The social network had also indicated, at the same time, that “Women use the Quest 2 more than any other Oculus headset”.

A success financially confirmed by Facebook, who announced, when presenting its fourth quarter 2020 results, that the non-advertising revenues of its various subsidiaries increased from $ 346 million in Q4 2019, to $ 885 million in Q4 2020. A spectacular increase of 156% which has already motivated the social network to announce to its investors that its dedicated VR teams are working on the next generation of the Oculus Quest. What to consolidate in the idea that virtual reality has a bright future ahead of it, and that the fact of having freed it from its cables was rather favorable to Facebook.
