Deiveson Figueiredo, his rival Brandon Moreno, will be able to get the three-round fight he has been pushing for at UFC 269.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto first reported that Brandon Moreno will face Deiveson Figueiredo in December. According to the report, Moreno was booked against Alexandre Pantoja as the UFC’s first choice. Pantoja was not available for the December 11 date and Moreno wanted his fight to continue. The stars aligned for this trilogy bout.

They first met at UFC 256 in December 2012. The fight was regarded as one of the most exciting fights of the year and was arguably the greatest flyweight fight in UFC history. It ended in a draw.

In June, the elite flyweights met again at UFC 263 to continue their fight. After Moreno won the third round rear-naked choke, it was clear who the winner was.

Figueiredo immediately went on the campaign trail to urge Moreno to accept a three-fight fight. He used insults and promised a different outcome in the trilogy bout. Moreno initially asked the former champion for a title shot. But his hunger for violence soon got the better him and he managed to squeeze in another knock at the end of the year.

The UFC 269 venue is still to be decided. The current UFC 269 roster will be updated with the addition of this fight:

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title Bout: Amanda Nunes(c) vs. Julianna Peña

Maycee Barber vs. Montana De La Rosa
