The 50-year-old Portuguese Paulo Sousa and former coach of Leicester, Fiorentina, Maccabi, Basel and Girondins Bordeaux, among others, is the new Polish Coach, replacing Jerzy Brzeczek, who left office three days ago. as reported by the Polish Football Federation.

“I am convinced that the new coach of the Polish team, thanks to his kind of coach, experience and international knowledge, will give a new impetus to our team. I am counting on him! Everyone, the Federation, the footballers and our entire family of the football are at your disposal. Good luck Paolo!”, said the president of the Polish Football Association Zbigniew Boniek, on the federative website.

The Polish team is one of Spain’s rivals in the group stage of Euro 2020. The match is set to be played on June 21, 2021, at the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao.

Paulo Sousa in his time as a player played, among others, for Benfica, Sporting Lisboa, Juventus Turin, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Parma, and he was an absolute international with his country on 51 occasions. As a coach, he won the league with Maccabi and Basel.

Paulo Sousa’s assistants include Spaniards Víctor Manuel Sánchez Lladó (coach) and physical trainers Lluis Sala Pérez and Antonio José Gómez Díaz.
