Twitter, owned by businessman Elon Musk, suspended the @elonjet account, which followed the movements of the tycoon’s plane, and which was created by Jack Sweeney, who has migrated the profile to the Mastodon social network.

“Account suspended. Twitter suspends accounts that break Twitter rules,” reads the profile created by Sweeney, who has confirmed his closure through a tweet on his personal account, in which, in addition to Mastodon, he offers other alternatives on other platforms.

Before his block, @elonjet had half a million followers.

According to a screenshot shared by Sweeney, the company informed him that he had broken their rules and that he could only read content, but not send or forward messages. Twitter also gives you the opportunity to file a complaint against the measure.

The closure occurs despite the fact that a month ago Musk himself, who once described himself as “an absolutist of freedom of expression”, expressly assured that he would not block it.

“My commitment to free speech even extends to not banning the account that follows my plane, even though that is a direct risk to personal safety,” he said.
