Peter Sagan celebrated his 31st birthday in a somewhat bumpy way on Tuesday, as the Slovakian cyclist crashed while training in a session that arrived at six hours on the roads of the Canary Islands. Sagan suffered several injuries to his right arm and leg, although they were not serious.

Sagan himself wanted to inform fans of the mishap with this message on his social networks. “My brother Juraj is taking care of the scratches I had for my birthday. I am alive and well, so everything is fine!” Sagan stated, who shared a photo of his brother healing his wounds and another of the wound he suffered on his right leg.

Sagan’s ‘sheet and paint’ injuries will not prevent him from continuing to prepare for the 2021 season where Sagan will debut, if the pandemic allows it, at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne before a new assault on the Flanders Classics, the Tour de France and the Tokyo Olympics.
