With seductive words like goddess, my life, my love, Marcelo Tinelli addressed Milett Figueroa in her first presentation in Bailando 2023. The young Peruvian native swept away the gaze of the host of América’s show and had a longer than expected pre-dance. Her partner, Martín Salwe, was almost completely overshadowed by the judges, such as Ángel de Brito, Carolina Pampita Ardohain, Moria Casán and Marcelo Polino.
Milett is a model and actress, she is 31 years old – she turned 31 on June 10 – and in Peru she is a celebrity. At the time of the return, Marcelo Polino confessed that a few years ago he was about to go to live a season in that country, and that at that time he had asked his Peruvian colleagues who were the top Peruvian figures. “Milett without a doubt,” they told him.
She has a charisma and an overwhelming personality that she demonstrated as soon as she stepped on the steps of America’s biggest studio. Milett was winner of the Miss Supertalent beauty pageant in 2016, and then participated for the crown of Miss Peru, and although she did not win, she was a finalist in the contest.
In Peruvian television she debuted in 2011, in a program called Dame que te doy, and the following year she joined the ranks of Combate, the same cycle that became known in Argentina, from where figures such as Flor Vigna and Mica Viciconte came out. In that program, Figueroa spent a month in the sports competition until she was finally eliminated.
One of the characteristics of the young woman is her way of confronting and generating controversy. This was announced during the Bailando 2023 gala by one of the jurors, Ángel de Brito. “You’ve come to the right place”, he told her and explained: “She is a reality girl, she loves to generate controversy”. In fact, Milett participated in her country in a competition program called Esto es guerra, and there she had a media confrontation that led her to be eliminated from the cycle when she had a sentimental relationship with one of the contestants, Guty Carrera, while he was dating another participant.
Later, she participated as an actress in Peruvian series and movies, until she started taking singing lessons. In her first gala of Marcelo Tinelli’s contest, she dared to sing a capella with her mother the Luis Miguel’s song “Si nos dejan” (If they leave us).
Since the presentation of the official photo of the Bailando, Milett did not go unnoticed, and much less for the host who told her that he had seen her and that he had been impressed with her. In a game of seduction before her performance on the dance floor, both exchanged compliments, and remained very close while talking into the same microphone. So much so that Martin Salwe, who in theory was the “celebrity” of the dance couple was overshadowed by the presence of his partner.
“I am a gentleman,” he said when the jurors pointed it out to him, but the truth is that Martín ended up admitting that “he was very scared” in this first performance in front of the ShowMatch audience. As for Milett, in her most recent appearances on Peruvian TV, the artist was on the show El Gran Chef Famosos, where she regained some of the popularity she had lost after her media scandals due to love conflicts.
Some time ago, the actress and model confessed in an interview for the podcast Mirada Púrpura, the reason why she has no male friends. “I felt and to this day I feel that I can’t have male friends. That’s something that has worked on me. I don’t know if it’s because of beauty or what do I know, it doesn’t mean that I feel beautiful all the time, but when I was little I felt that I couldn’t (have male friendships),” she admitted.
