According to the series produced by Carla Estrada that tells the story of Trevi from her childhood to adulthood, and the lurid story she starred in with her manager Sergio Andrade, Gloria Ruiz Arredondo always supported her daughter in her dream of becoming a star.

Gloria’s mother, played in the fiction by Ingrid Martz, is currently 73 years old and will celebrate her 74th birthday in 2023.

She grew up in a conservative and traditional family in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, in northern Mexico and was raised to be a “society” lady, an exemplary mother and wife.

During her youth she was very interested in dance and was a ballet teacher, she was even offered a scholarship to develop her career in Russia, but her parents did not let her, so she dedicated herself to raise a home and take care of her children.

Her first husband, “La Trevi’s” father, is Mr. Manuel Treviño; the couple separated when the interpreter was 10 years old. Gloria Ruiz was married four times, but the singer of “Zapatos viejos” no longer lived at home, since her early adolescence, when she won the contest “La doble de Lucerito”, she moved to Mexico City to pursue her dream in the music world.

It was then when Gloria Trevi “fell into the hands” of music producer Sergio Andrade, who promised doña Gloria that he would make her eldest daughter a great star. According to Televisa Univision’s bioseries, Gloria’s mother corrected her with blows so that she would behave well under the argument of “I hit you because I love you”, the same phrase later mentioned by the character inspired by Sergio Andrade, “Cesar Augusto”, to manipulate her.

It is known that Doña Gloria sponsored financially the production of the singer’s first album, Doctor Psiquiatra, and although she let her live alone in the Mexican capital as a teenager, she always kept an eye on her from a distance, while taking care of her other children in the city of Monterrey.

Doña Gloria de los Ángeles Ruiz Arredondo went to jail in 2010.

The composer’s mother was detained by Interpol and the Department of Homeland Security at the Tucumán airport in Panama -where she had traveled from Houston with the intention of entering the country-, under the accusation of tax evasion; after that, she was extradited to Mexico and interned in the Topo Chico prison in Monterrey, in March 2010.

It is known that the Mexican tax authorities demanded that she pay the amount of 28 million 339 thousand 249 pesos for the sale of a property and its interest generated since 1996, in order for her to be released.

After being deported from Panama, where she spent the night in a shelter, to be transferred to Mexico City’s International Airport and immediately after to Nuevo Leon, La Trevi’s mother was released on bail seven months later and was prevented from leaving the state for three months, period in which the legal issues were expected to be concluded.

“My mom, for example, is not guilty, remember that all this has a process, she does not owe that amount, that is what they say, and that will be clarified in a trial”, said the composer on that occasion when referring for the first and only time to the matter.

Gloria Trevi’s mother was acquitted in 2012. Local media reported that her defense was able to prove that she fully complied with her tax obligations. She was officially cleared of the accusations for allegedly not having declared the sale of a property in Nuevo Leon in 1996.

Gloria Ruiz is currently away from public life and can be seen at the end of some episodes of Ellas soy yo, where she tells her testimony about the story of her famous daughter.
