Sharon Stone revealed the consequences she suffered for the iconic scene of “Under Instincts”.
The star recounted the painful situation she went through after the film
For Sharon Stone, her role in “Low Instincts” meant much more than becoming a sex icon of the 1990s. The 64-year-old actress visited a podcast and talked about the aftermath of her 1992 role in the film, including the loss of custody of one of her children.
“When the judge asked my young son, ‘Do you know that your mother makes movies with sexual content?’ it was a kind of abuse by the system: he questioned what kind of mother I was for doing that job,” she commented, between angry and indignant about what she had to live through.

“People now show nudity on regular television, and back then you only saw, maybe, one frame of my possible nudity, and I lost custody of my son because of that,” she expressed with regret.
“It was a movie for a major studio, and we had nudity, sex, homosexuality…all things that, in my day, broke the rules,” she noted in an interview with The New Yorker.
Speaking on the podcast, Sharon still recalls how it “broke her heart” to lose custody: “I ended up in the clinic with extra heartbeats in the upper and lower chambers of my heart,” she revealed.
Pressure on the set
This is not the first time Sharon Stone has referred to the pressure that was inside the set of filming “Under Instincts”.
“It was my 18th movie and I was 32 when I got that job. I told my agent that, if they let me walk through that door, I would get the job. I knew that was the last chance – I was getting old in the business I hadn’t gotten into yet,” he assured.
Regarding the famous scene in which her character strategically spreads her legs while being interrogated by the police, she pointed out that she chose to do it because “it was right for the film.”
At the same time, she confessed that she was tricked into showing her private parts, “That’s how I saw the shot of my intimate area for the first time, long after I was told, ‘We can’t see anything, I just need you to take off your underwear, since the white reflects the light.'”
“I was just an actress, just a woman, what choices could I have? But I had them. So I thought and thought and decided to allow this scene because it was right for the film and for the character; and because, after all, I did it,” she wrote in her book.
Sharon Stone’s battle with tumor
Sharon Stone announced last November that she was diagnosed with a “large fibroid tumor” after getting a “misdiagnosis.” The American actress urged women to always confirm medical opinions received.
“Ladies in particular: don’t be fooled. Seek a second opinion. It can save your life,” she wrote in an Instagram story on Wednesday.
And it is that the 64-year-old interpreter decided to go to another doctor after severe pain appeared. According to Sharon Stone, she suffered “a misdiagnosis and an incorrect procedure,” adding that she had to receive a “double epidural” to treat the pain.
