The singer Ruth Lorenzo, who represented Spain at Eurovision in 2014, will now be the one to tell the whole Europe the votes of Spain to the candidacies that reach the final, as officially announced today by RTVE.

After debuting as a presenter in the program Cover Night of La 1, Ruth Lorenzo returns to the cameras and will be in charge, as we said, of giving the points of the Spanish jury in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

“I return to the house you love,” said Ruth Lorenzo excited to return to RTVE and Eurovision. An assignment that receives, she says, with great responsibility: “I hope you will be happy and proud. I love with all my heart the United Kingdom and Eurovision so I feel a lot of connection with all this”.

Ruth Lorenzo has also addressed the fans of the contest, about 10 years after her participation in Eurovision: “they had asked for my return a lot over time and I think having the representation of someone who has been on the stage of the Festival is a very nice wink”.

This is further proof of the strong bond that the Murcian singer has with Eurovision. She represented Spain in 2014 in Copenhagen with what is already an anthem for Eurofans: Dancing in the rain, composed by her together with Jim Irvin and Julian Emery, came tenth.

A history of music

The singer and composer is undoubtedly one of the great voices of our country. She began her training at a very young age and at 19 she founded a rock band. She later participated unsuccessfully in some castings of the TVE program, Operación Triunfo, but finally found her place abroad.

He tried his luck in the X Factor contest in England where he performed songs like Knockin’ on Heavens Door or (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and with which he managed to get a place in the semifinal.

Her big opportunity in Spain would come in 2014 when she competed against artists like Brequette Cassie, La Dama, Raúl and Jorge González to represent Spain at Eurovision.

After her selection for the European contest, she released her first album, Planeta Azul. “For me it was the big door to enter back to Spain. To be able to be in my country doing something so beautiful, in a festival where all the countries of Europe are represented, was very nice for me,” she said.
