Actor Ray Liotta , who played baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson in the movie ‘Field Of Dreams’ , died this Thursday in the Dominican Republic at the age of 67 . The news was released by his publicist Jennifer Allen.

According to local media, the actor’s death occurred at the “Casa del Arbol” hotel in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo around 6:00 in the morning , while he was with his fiancee Jacy Nittolo. A source from the 911 system in the Dominican Republic told CNN that Liotta had no vital signs when paramedics arrived, so four cycles of CPR were performed but the actor was unresponsive.

Two years after starring in the feature film ‘Something Wild, ‘ Liotta ventured into the world of baseball, helping bring the story of the 1919 Black Sox to the big screen . The success of the film was such that it was nominated for three Oscars for Best Film , Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Soundtrack in 1989, the year of its release; as well as being selected for the 2017 Library of Congress National Film Registry.
