Mort Sahl, one of the world’s first comedians, died this Tuesday at the age of 94 at his home in Mill Valley (California, USA).

The death of the American actor and satirist was confirmed by Lucy Mercer, a friend who helps oversee his affairs.

Mort Sahl was born in Canada, but his family moved to Los Angeles (California, USA) as a child. In the 50s and 60s, he established himself as one of the pioneers of satirical comedy and ‘stand-up’, with monologues focused on social satire, serving as inspiration to many other comedians, such as Woody Allen.
