In the late 2000s and early 2010s, the Disney Channel introduced viewers to some of the biggest names. From Miley Cyrus and her musical series “Hannah Montana” to Selena Gomez and her magic-based show “Wizards of Waverly Place,” teens and tweens were inundated with emerging and influential talent. Among the Mileys and Selenas was Demi Lovato, who first made her mark on the hit Disney Channel (DCOM) Original Movie, “Camp Rock.” In the film, which spawned an equally popular sequel, Lovato played the character of Mitchie Torres. A year after the release of “Camp Rock,” the “Heart Attack” singer launched his hit TV series “Sonny With A Chance,” further cementing Lovato as Disney royalty.

But alongside her burgeoning career on the Disney Channel, Lovato also kicked off her music career with her first two pop-rock-inspired albums, “Don’t Forget” and “Here We Go Again.” As the years passed, his music shifted towards pop-heavy productions, resulting in songs like “Cool For The Summer” and “Confident.” However, in a 2017 interview with VICE, the “Concentrate” singer revealed that he “just wasn’t fun” singing his pop music on tour. “It wasn’t moving; I wasn’t getting into the songs. It was just like going through the motions,”she explained.

Following the release of her albums, “Tell Me You Love Me” and “Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Beginning Over,” Lovato has teased another change in her sound with her upcoming new single.

In recent months, Demi Lovato has teased that they are leaving their pop era behind. In January, the singer-songwriter took to Instagram and posted a photo with his creative team. “A funeral for my pop music,” the caption read. Along with the post, Lovato also posted a series of Instagram Stories that featured them singing an unidentified pop-rock track (via People). In the months since, the “Made in the USA” singer has given fans glimpses of her new musical era, but for the most part, he has kept quiet about the details.

However, on May 23, Lovato finally confirmed the title of her lead single for her upcoming eighth studio album. Taking to Twitter , the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer responded to a fan, who tweeted, “‘Skin Of My Teeth’ is the leading lady according to the streets.” After another fan asked, “Which street?”, Lovato chimed in, writing, “My street.”

Lovato’s confirmation comes a month after her new music was described as “absolutely her best yet.” On April 22, they uploaded a series of Instagram Stories and talked about the album. “I’m excited to hear my new album because I’m so proud of it,” they wrote (via Billboard). “It’s the best thing I’ve done so far and it’s very representative of me, where I started from and who I am today.” Although we don’t have an exact release date for “Skin Of My Teeth” or her eighth studio album, we do know that it will be very different from her previous work.
