Elegant, sober and simple. These are some of the words with which Carlos Herrero and Aleix Llimona define their house in Barcelona, which they have just redecorated as a couple.

“Talk, talk and talk” to reach agreements and get the perfect house. This is how Carlos Herrero and Aleix Llimona have managed to redecorate their apartment in the center of Barcelona. Together, as they have done to build their home, they also lead the communication agency O2 Brand Consulting with which “we look to the past, live in the present and work for the future, from a creative and financial point of view”, they tell us. Their Their lifestyle is between classic and traditional, but also between “trendy and fashion”, and they have done the same with their house. Sober tones, noble materials such as wood or marble and touches of color in details. Everything, always , under the consensus of the two, although they recognize that “one is in charge of some things and another of others. Aleix is more involved in the furniture and I in the details. We always end up reconciling”, explains Carlos. And they have had other help, that of the Westwing firm, very present in the furniture of the house, which they have combined with others such as Missoni, Bang & Olufsen, Santa & Cole, Lladró or Vista Alegre Here, ten things that make them happy:

1. Our house

When it comes to dressing and enjoying day to day, our style is a mix between the classic and the traditional, between trendy and fashion. And at home we have adopted a bit of the same pattern: classic lines for the main furniture, but groundbreaking pieces in the decoration and in the works of art. The combination, which can sometimes be dizzying, is nothing more than daring and having fun in the process!

“The house has many nuances that characterize me, such as walnut, marble, porcelain pieces, a somewhat classy style. It talks about elegance and sobriety, but with a groundbreaking touch. That’s me!”, explains Carlos

2. His favorite armchairs

Among our favorite pieces from the house are the Sissi armchairs from Westwing. Also, the Guest figures by Lladró by Jaime Hayón, the photography by Pedro Mir and the set of cushions, blankets and pouf by Missoni Home.

3. Our living room

The most complicated room, and the one in which we have spent the most time, has undoubtedly been the living-dining room. The reason lies in having wanted to create a very careful and unique space in terms of details and distribution, but at the same time very homey and real. Creating this type of atmosphere is by no means an easy task, but we believe that we have succeeded. Spending long periods of time on the Lennon Sectional Corner Sofa by Westwing is always a win.

4. Lazaro Rosa Violan

One of our references in the world of interior design and decoration, Lázaro Rosa Violán, has always guided us in the combination of styles and materials to create an atmosphere of contrasts, making it unique and impressing the eye of the guest.

5. The warm houses

We have in common the idea that our house, beyond a place where details and interior design prevail, is a home and has to be functional, as well as warm. Many of our pieces of furniture demonstrate this, such as the Toni dining table, the Lesley centerpiece or the Leron lamp, all three from Westwing.

“I love the warm and welcoming tones. This house has a very simple and sober style but with certain elements and details distinction is achieved and I love that, I have always had that premise”, says Aleix

6. Host

We love to take care of every last detail, being the protagonists of our meetings at home, the candles, the music, a good wine and lots of laughter.

7. The colour, in the details

In our day to day, we have different style references such as Ralph Lauren or Armani, we also adore Italy and its Amalfi coast. This indicates that we opted for neutral colors for the base of our home: black, white or beige; and elements with strength and color to crown the rooms. Also photography and art is very present.

8. Combine styles

When we do not agree to choose something, what we do is talk about it calmly, give reasons why and always look for common happiness. “I am much more ornate, I love the small decorative objects and elements that I acquire on different trips,” says Carlos. Meanwhile, Aleix affirms: ”A much more minimal style characterizes me, with few elements, but with a lot of quality. In the end, less is always more.”

9. The dressing room

We organize the clothes by type of garment, we are not one of those color maniacs… luckily! But we have other hobbies, such as clothing, in general, being visible (without doors), super clean shoes and that there is symmetry in all the shelves. Luckily, and for the curious, we use practically the same size for both the top, pants and shoes.

10. Noble materials and sober colors

In our house we prefer noble materials, such as wood or marble, and three colors stand out: walnut, beige and black. They are sober, elegant and timeless.
