They study if the vaccines are apt to fight it. Although in the United States they are already making progress with the application of third doses, there is only 60 percent of the population vaccinated.

The state of New York announced a state of preventive emergency due to the possible appearance of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, a measure that will take effect on December 3 and that will allow it to acquire supplies for the fight against the pandemic, increase hospital capacity and combat the possible shortage of staff, in a sector whose functionality has been limited by the high number of voluntary dropouts.

The measure would also allow the State Department of Health to limit non-essential and non-urgent procedures in hospitals in favor of a reinforcement of covid units.  State Governor Katy Hochul noted that “so far, the new omicron variant has not been found in New York State, but we are on high alert. It’s coming, ”he said.

The journalist Mauricio Zabalza maintained in dialogue with “Crónica Matinal” on Channel 10, that the fact that “the United States is a place of passage for all airlines, possibly means that the first case is to fall” in that city. According to Zabalza, the vaccination campaign in the United States has so far reached “only 60 percent of the population” which implies that “there is 40 percent who do not agree with vaccines.”

In that direction, he pointed out, however, that progress is being made in the application of the third doses to those who have already completed the immunization schedule. He also argued that major laboratories such as Pfizer and Moderna have already announced that they are studying “whether vaccines attack this variant.”

Given the low number of immunized people, Mayor Hochul again urged New Yorkers not yet immunized to receive the prick. “The vaccine continues to be one of our best weapons in the fight against the pandemic, and I encourage all New Yorkers to get vaccinated and booster shots if they are fully vaccinated,” he said.
