Most Americans do not want US President Joe Biden or his predecessor, Donald Trump, to run in the 2024 presidential election, according to a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll shared by The Hill.

According to the demographic study, 67 percent of Americans prefer that Biden not stand for re-election, alluding in most cases to the fact that they consider him to be a bad president. Another 30 percent point out that the tenant of the White House would be too old (he would be 82 years old) to opt for the position again.

For his part, former President Trump is not much better valued, since 57 percent of those surveyed believe that he should not stand for election again, which would be the third in a row.

About Trump, 36 percent consider that he has an “erratic” behavior, while another 33 percent believe that, if he reaches the Presidency of the United States again, he will divide the country. The remaining 31 percent allude to his role in the incidents of the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The detachment from Trump and Biden is such that around 60 percent of those surveyed have recognized that, if both finally contest the race for the Presidency, they would be willing to support an independent and more moderate candidate.

“Americans want a clear change from this president and from the last. There will be a virtual voter revolt if these are the two candidates again,” ventured the coordinator of the survey, Mark Penn.

However, if Americans had to choose between one or the other, 45 percent of those surveyed have acknowledged that they would opt for Trump, while 42 percent would prefer to support Biden for re-election.
