Joe Biden, President of the United States, indicated that he is going to use “all the tools of its national power” to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, in a security statement signed Thursday with Israel.

In a document signed by Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid in Jerusalem, the two countries “reaffirm their unbreakable bond” and the United States expresses its “enduring commitment to Israel’s security”.

The United States emphasizes that it “is willing to use all the tools of its national power to secure that goal,” notes this joint statement of the US-Israel Strategic Partnership signed in Jerusalem.

This agreement was signed on the second day of Biden’s visit to Israel, as part of his first tour of the Middle East as president. After meeting on Thursday with senior Israeli government officials, the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abas, will meet on Friday.

He will then travel to Saudi Arabia, considered Iran’s biggest regional rival. Lapid stated during the bilateral that the fight against Iran is the most important issue in the talks.

In the joint statement, “the United States again reiterates its commitment to preserving and strengthening Israel’s ability to deter its enemies and defend itself against any threat or combination of threats.”
