NEW YORK (AP) — Police arrested the driver of a U-Haul truck on Monday after reporting that the moving vehicle struck several pedestrians in New York City.
The driver attempted to flee the scene after running onto a sidewalk in Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge neighborhood and injuring several people, authorities said.
At the moment, there were no further details.
The incident coincides with the start of jury deliberations on whether to impose the death penalty on an Islamic extremist who killed eight people on a New York City bike path in 2017 by running them over with a truck.
It is not known if the two events are related.
