LONDON (AP) — England soccer’s chief referee Howard Webb has contacted Arsenal and Brighton after “significant errors” were made in their respective Premier League matches on Saturday.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited said Webb explained there was “human error” during the VAR process in both games.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal had to be disallowed for offside in the previous game, while Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan’s first-half goal was wrongly ruled off -game in the 1-1 equalizer with Crystal Palace.

“PGMOL can confirm that Chief Referee Howard Webb contacted both Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion to acknowledge and explain significant errors in the VAR processes during their respective Premier League matches on Saturday,” PGMOL said. “Both incidents, which were due to human error and related to the analysis of offside situations, are being thoroughly investigated by PGMOL.”
