Adrián Armas, central director of economic studies of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), estimated that Peru would lose $600 million due to the drop in the number of international tourists in the country following the protests.

“The economy is enfrentando a significant negative shock (…) Cuando ustedes aprecian los indicators de confianza regional empresarial, observed a mayor deterioration in the zona sur, pero no solo es el sur, es todo el país”, aseguró in conference Press.

The representative of RBC said it is “premature” inform what is the total impact that the conflict will have.

“It is premature to analyze it because the final impact is linked to the duration of the conflicts. If they stop, the economic impact of conflicts, blockades, disruptions, ends quickly, which would give the economy space for the rest of the year to recover from the impact of these shocks. If they are persistent It will be very difficult for companies to resume production“, he stated.
