A listing on the eShop gave us a final release date for Monorail Stories on Switch. Freedom Games will release it on March 23, 2023.
You may recall that the narrative experience was it was originally supposed to land on Switch last month. Turns out the title was slightly delayed, but now that it’s listed on the eShop, the March date should be final.
Hello and welcome to the monorail transportation system that connects the cities of M and L. This spectacular technical feat allows thousands of people to travel between cities every day in the shortest possible time. Every day a hundred new stories are born in these cars circulating on the track suspended above the Bay. Extraordinary things happen every day to ordinary people.
Silvie and Ahmal, from the town of M and the town of L. Two strangers who unknowingly affect each other’s lives via the monorail they share every day. Traveling between cities each day at different times, they choose who to talk to on the monorail, how to treat their fellow travelers, and what to do as the monorail cruises cross the bay. Every day is a new chapter in your shared story, which you can write alone or with a friend, thanks to asynchronous multiplayer.
Like Ahmal and Silvie, you’ll meet dozens of people on their journey. How you interact with them is up to you.
The decisions they make on the monorail affect the course of their stories, or rather, the one common story they inhabit. Every decision and every interaction leads to one of the traveling couple’s many endings.
When their story ends, yours can begin. The story mode of the season gives you the opportunity to create an original character to go to work and discover the city from another angle.
As the stories of the monorail unfold, the story of the two towns connected by the track also unfolds. Both city-states face turmoil and uncertainty, as do the people who pass between them on the monorail each day. It’s entirely possible that fates aren’t decided by what people do, but by how they treat each other, or rather, how you interact with those around you.
Control Ahmal and Silvie in single-player mode, or find a friend to experience a non-linear story with iconic asynchronous multiplayer. Explore each city’s monorail station while waiting for the monorail, each of you immersing yourself in your own interactions and secrets to keep (or share).
