The TV rights dispute between eight Liga 1 clubs and the FPF still has some lines to settle. (League 1)

The situation of the League 1 He seems to be improving, although at a rather slow pace. While last week it was only possible to broadcast three games, for the 4th day of the opening tournament, all the duels have been played so far. However, their transmission is an open question, as not all of them have been broadcast. In this sense, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) called the first division clubs to a dialogue to analyze the details of the exploitation of television rights.

Through a statement, the national football governing body explained that the purpose of this meeting is to study the damages they would have in the event of eventualities concerning the use of TV rights. The agreed date will be Monday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m., with the location pending confirmation.

“Invite them to a working table, the purpose of which is that the clubs that make up the Betsson 1 League can carry out a Detailed analysis of damages in the face of possible legal contingenciesas well as the revision of the technical part of the model for the exploitation of the audiovisual transmission rights of the said contest, provided for in the contracts signed for these purposes”, we read in the first lines of the document.

Likewise, he specifies that this meeting will help to clarify things in the face of the challenge of the next championships, not only of the current season. “In this way, they can develop viable objectives to guide the joint exploitation of the audiovisual rights of the Betsson League 1, edition 2023 and following”, is it added.

But that was not all, since the FPF He clarified that he will not be present at this meeting so that the clubs make their own decision on this subject. It will only make her happy. “For the purposes of making an objective assessment by the clubs, the FPF will not participate in the development of the work table under comment, except for the establishment of it”, it is indicated.

And it is that since 1190 Sports was chosen last year in a controversial tender in Chile as the new television house of the League 1, many Peruvian clubs have called for this measure, citing their respective contracts with the Peruvian Football Consortium (CFP). There FPF He stressed that it was a fairer model in terms of TV rights and their economic distribution.

However, the problem worsened when for the start of the current edition of the local championship, the two parties (FPF and clubs in conflict) have not reached an agreement so that GOLPERU You can broadcast your matches. The governing body came to file a precautionary measure, an event that triggered six “walk overs”, never seen before.

Opposition clubs (including Alianza Lima, Cienciano, etc.) sought to reach the highest levels and met with the President of the Council of Ministers (PCM), Alberto Otárola, so that he could intervene and that he could there be a solution. In fact, there were two meetings between the parties, but at the beginning they did not agree.

The sports journalist was quite concerned about the situation in which Peruvian football finds itself today.

In the end, and considering that three days had already passed without being played in their entirety (the first two were suspended due to the social conflict in Peru), the FPF authorized engagements to play, although with the exception of Alianza Lima (due to the current contract with GOLPERU), the rest will be broadcast on the platforms of the League 1. In the case of Carlos A. Mannucci against Sporting Cristal, the CFP will also broadcast it, after the claim of the Trujillo club.

It remains to be seen whether this meeting which convenes the FPF will get what he asks for or the conflicting teams enforce their respective agreements with GOLPERU and take the complaint to higher authorities.
