Moscow, February 11. Russians will not be able to see Disney films from March, which will not renew the contract with Russian Internet platforms due to the military intervention in Ukraine, according to the newspaper “Vedomosti” today.

Like other major studios, Disney left the Russian market in March 2022 after the start of the military campaign in the neighboring country, but users were able to continue watching their productions online.

However, Disney’s contract with platforms like Okko, Kinopoisk or Ivi expires next month and the studio has no intention of renewing it, according to various sources reported to the newspaper.

The most popular films of the American studio in this country are “The Lion King”, “Zootopia”, “Frozen” and “Home Alone”.

In mid-January, major Russian movie channels began airing “Avatar: The Sense of Water,” even though the film didn’t have an official license and the government threatened to fine them.

James Cameron’s film, the biggest hit in cinema history, is produced by 20th Century Studios, which is also owned by Disney.

The Russian billboard includes, in addition to domestically produced films, American films such as “Puss in Boots 2” or “Airplane”.
