Del Potro, the last match point, will be broadcast this Monday on Star+

A little over a year ago, on February 8, 2022, Juan Martin del Potro he played what may have been his last game as a professional. For the first round of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires, the center court of the Lawn tennis club he saw an emotional tennis player who faced his friend Federico Delbonis, with whom he was able to crown himself Davis Cup champion.

Beyond the 6-1 and 6-3 defeat, the emotion was born from the Tower of Tandilwho prepared in a special way to enter the field and play again after 965 days of inactivity following a new operation on one of his knees. This Monday, February 13 from 10 p.m., the Star+ platform will present Del Potro, the last match point: a 90-minute documentary that shows the hard process that the native of Tandil went through to recover and try to compete again in 2022, after the last injury which kept him away from professional competition in 2019.

This special is about Del Potro’s struggle to play tennis again and the desire to achieve it to dedicate it to the memory of his father. Filmed in different cities of Argentina and the United States, the special documentary presents testimonies of his family, great sports personalities and the medical team who accompanied the recovery of the tennis player who reached the Top 10 of the ATP ranking at the age of 20 and who in 2009 he was crowned US Open champion after beating the Swiss legend in a memorable definition Roger Federer.

I haven’t found a better opportunity than doing it in Buenos Aires, in front of my mother, it’s the first time she’s seen me play,” he said in tears.
