Madrid, 13 Feb. Claudia Victoria Poblete Hlackzic discovered that her biological parents had disappeared and that her identity as a soldier’s daughter was false. Her case marked the end of the impunity of the Argentine dictatorship, a story told in ‘Claudia’, a play now coming to Madrid.
It is a true story, told by the protagonist of the events herself, who, until the age of 21, lived with another identity, brought up by a family with a military background.
Claimed by her biological grandmother, she discovers that she was kidnapped with her parents and led an invented life.
His case marked a turning point in Argentina, as it marked the beginning of the end of impunity for military commanders. His attackers were tried and sentenced.
Since its creation in 2016, at the Greek Festival in Barcelona (northeastern Spain), the Spanish company La Conquesta del Pol Sudel has performed the work in Argentina, Belgium and the Netherlands. And this week it will be performed in the Canal theaters of the Spanish capital.
This theatrical piece is part of the “Woman / History / Identity” trilogy with “Nadia” (2014), which collected the experiences of a woman from Afghanistan wounded by the war caused by the Russian invasion of this country, and “Raphäell” (2018), centered on the life course of a young transsexual woman.
La Conquesta del Pol Sud is recognized for its own format of documentary theater, which features real testimonies accompanied by material obtained by the company during a previous documentation trip.
For the creation of this show, the company first carried out a long research work in Argentina until it discovered, thanks to the support of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, Claudia Poblete, daughter of two activists of human rights disappeared after being kidnapped by the military dictatorships, José Liborio Poblete, of Chilean origin, and Gertrudis Hlaczik.
